An entire hospital's health records, rebuilt as a physical place you can walk through: 1,268 patients, 5,602 visits, 59,964 documents.
The hospital is a library. Each wing is an ICD-10 chapter of disease. Each chart is one patient, filed by primary diagnosis, as thick as their number of visits.
Open a chart and it explodes. The patient sits at the centre; every visit is a dated folder bound to them by a brass spoke, and its pages lift out as the real forms they are.
Diagnoses become rings through time. Findings are highlighted on the exact line they came from and threaded to the diagnosis they support. Trace one and the evidence lights up.
This visualization is a model built on Synthetic Hospital, an open, physician-validated EHR benchmark by Christine Park, Valerie Chen and Tim Dettmers at Carnegie Mellon University. Every patient is synthetic.
